FPSC Jobs Guide: How to Apply, Tests and Interview
How Federal Public Service Commission recruitment works: finding advertisements, applying online, paying the fee, the recruitment test and the interview.
The Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) recruits officers for federal government departments in BS-16 and above, and it also conducts the CSS examination. Its official website is fpsc.gov.pk.
Two main types of FPSC recruitment

How to apply for FPSC General Recruitment
- Check advertisements on fpsc.gov.pk under Jobs / Advertisements. Each advertisement lists the posts, number of vacancies, pay scale, qualification, experience, age limit and domicile quota.
- Read the eligibility for your post carefully. Applications that don't meet the criteria are rejected.
- Apply online through the FPSC online application system before the closing date.
- Pay the fee using the methods FPSC lists in its fee payment guidelines.
- Download your admission certificate when the test is announced.
Recruitment tests
When many candidates apply for a post, FPSC holds a recruitment test to shortlist candidates for interview. The subjects and pattern depend on the post. Many tests include a general ability part (for example English, general knowledge, Islamic studies, Pakistan affairs and basic maths) and, for professional posts, a qualification-related part. The syllabus for each post is published on the FPSC website, so always check it for your post.
The interview
Shortlisted candidates are called for an interview (viva voce). Prepare:
- Your own qualification and experience: you will be asked about your field.
- The department you applied to: its role and work.
- Current affairs and basic knowledge of Pakistan.

- Build a strong base in English, general knowledge and Pakistan affairs, because these appear in most tests.

- Keep your documents ready: degrees, experience certificates, CNIC and domicile.
