Police Job Interview: Common Questions and Tips

Police and security force interviews test your discipline, honesty, confidence and basic knowledge. Here are questions that are commonly asked.

Motivation

• Why do you want to join the police?
• What qualities should a good police officer have? (Honesty, courage, discipline, respect for the law, good behaviour with the public)
• Would you be ready to work at night, on holidays or far from home?

Situations

• A relative asks you to help them escape a case. What will you do? Refuse politely and follow the law. The law is the same for everyone.
• Someone offers you a bribe. Refuse and report it according to the rules.
• You see a road accident while off duty. Help the injured, call Rescue 1122 and inform the police.

Basic knowledge

• Emergency numbers: 15 (Police) and 1122 (Rescue)
• Ranks in the police, from Constable upwards
• Your district's name, its tehsils and your local police station
• Basic facts about Pakistan: national days, national poet, provinces and capitals

Tips

• Stand and sit straight; posture matters in uniformed services.
• Answer briefly and confidently. Say "Sir" or "Madam" respectfully.
• Bring all original documents, copies and photographs.
