ETEA Test Guide: Posts, Application Steps, Test Pattern and Preparation Plan
A simple guide to ETEA (KP) recruitment tests: what it is, how to apply, the usual test pattern and a 4-week preparation plan.
What Is ETEA?
ETEA stands for the Educational Testing and Evaluation Agency of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It is a testing body of the KP government that conducts recruitment tests for many provincial departments, and also admission tests for educational institutions. If you are applying for a government job in KP, there is a good chance the written test will be taken by ETEA.
The agency publishes each recruitment project on its website, etea.online, together with the advertisement, project code and last date. You can also follow new openings on our government jobs page.
Common Posts Tested by ETEA
ETEA tests vary from project to project. Typical examples include:
- Junior clerk and clerical posts in provincial departments
- Court staff and other judiciary-related posts
- Patwari and revenue department posts
- Teaching and non-teaching staff in education departments
- Technical and support staff in different offices
The exact posts, qualification and age limit differ every time, so always read the official advertisement of your project.
How to Apply
- Visit the official ETEA website and open the list of latest projects.
- Find your project by title or project code and read the advertisement carefully.
- Check qualification, age, domicile and any experience requirement.
- Follow the application method written in that advertisement (usually an online form on the ETEA portal).
- Pay the test fee in the way and by the date given in the advertisement.
- Download your roll number slip when it is issued and keep a printed copy.
Eligibility conditions, fee and dates are different for each project. Please do not rely on old posts or social media; check the official advertisement.
Usual Test Pattern
Most ETEA recruitment tests are written MCQ tests. Many have a mixed paper that covers general subjects plus subject-specific questions for the post. The number of questions, marks and negative marking are stated in the test announcement or roll number slip, so check those before the exam.

If your test date is close, shorten the plan and give more time to the subjects that carry more marks in your paper. Our 30-Day Study Plan can help.
Tips for Test Day
- Reach the centre early with your original CNIC and roll number slip.
- Read the instructions on the paper carefully, including any negative marking.
- Attempt the questions you know first, then return to harder ones.
- Fill the answer sheet carefully and do not make unnecessary marks.
